Typically, I refer to the final day of the week as ‘Sort Your Life Out Sunday’. It’s my time to chill, get my diary organised and do some meal prep. •••
Meal prep is something I legit despise (along with hanging out my washing and putting my duvet cover back on). I’m usually always motivated to do the whole workout thing, but cutting up chicken and shoving it on the George Foreman just ain’t my jam. So I legit keep it so simple 98% of the time🤷🏼♀️
Buuuut, shove a sweet potato in the oven n it tastes 10000% better than it does when you boil it. Shove some courgettes under the grill and they go to all levels of dreamy. And well, George does a pretty good job at cooking chicken pretty quickly. So either way it. gets. done. •••
When we say we’re too busy to meal prep, we often aren’t being truthful. What is more accurate is that after rushing around all day we’d rather lie on the sofa than whack the kitchen scales out. Alas, goals are goals. And if it was easy, everyone would do it all of the time. But, there’s multiple reasons why meal prepping is actually hella good
1️⃣ STAYING ON TRACK. The obvious one. If everything’s done, when we’re rushing around we don’t have to venture into the supermarket when we’re hungry (always lethal). Unless you’ve been tracking for a while, it’s not always easy to ‘know’ what the best option is when you’re faced with a menu or a load of boxed up wraps. So being prepared pays off. We’re also less likely to get home and think ‘let’s get a takeaway’ because you’ve already got a meal in the fridge.
2️⃣ COST. I can guarantee being on it with your Tupperware is going to save you money in the long run. What’s the cheapest option? A meal deal for *no less than* £3. But usually more, unless you’re satiated by a BLT and a bag of wotsits.
3️⃣ YA FEEL GOOD. Obvs eating all your greens is going to make you feel a lot more energetic throughout the day but also a lot more likely to actually do the gym thing. If you’re in the mentality of feeling prepared and eating well you’re going to feel a lot more motivated for the workout.
So, set yourself up for success this week and why not get ya peach in the kitchen🤷🏼♀️
