Sometimes God has to take you through hell to get to heaven. I was right there...like two panels away...I just so happened to turn around and witnessed her landing a full... Her scream was a blade to my heart. After months and months of HARD work regaining her full (after already having ACL surgery), my girl @gianna_0826 was right back on the ground with the same injury. My sister tore her ACL and it ended her gymnastics career...was this it for G? Fast forward a couple months to one of the best days of my life. We are at ESPN and @sh is in the back collecting their national champion jackets. I was back there screaming, snotting, and crying when I noticed G. She was there, on crutches, supporting her teammates. I went over to give her a hug and she started crying. “Alvin I don’t feel like I even helped them win.” I don’t remember what my response was...but I can tell you that I am well acquainted with adversity. Matter of fact, adversity is a good friend of mine. I know that it adversity can make you or break you. And I also knew that nothing can break G. So, I impatiently anticipated her return. And she came back. One of the best practices I’ve ever had at the Bambie Dome is when G landed her one to tuck. 💯 G your passion, fearlessness, and persistence have beepsucn an inspiration to my own life! Its easy todo a pull up but just a bit harder todo a little spin before a pull up on these olympic rings. This video is a simple example of.. just learn to move in different ways with your body and always challenge yourself to move in ways you never have or typically don’t. I am not doing anything complex or too difficult here however in relation to my regular fitness routine a movement like this is like a blessing for me. It brings me something special that I didn’t see coming. Today was a light day of movement yet still productive and progressive. EASY FAT LOSS RULES TO LIVE BY ———— I’m all for counting calories and tracking food — especially for someone who’s just getting started or wants to maximize the accuracy of their diet. ⠀ Reason being, it’s the best way to learn (and memorize) proper portion sizes and, really, the only sure way of knowing that you’re consistently eating in a calorie deficit. ⠀ But(t🍑), there comes a time in every fitness enthusiast’s life when they’re no longer focused on losing weight. Instead, they’re just looking to maintain a healthy body. ⠀ At that point, strict calorie counting just isn’t necessary for most people. ⠀ There should always be some structure, though, which is where having a few “fat loss rules to live by” comes in handy. These are rules that help you keep your calorie intake in check without having to religiously count or track ‘em. ⠀ Now, everyone’s different, but these four are perfect for me, and I implement them on a regular basis. ⠀ 1. Never Miss Twice ✌️- this one’s fantabulous because it allows for “fun” meals, but keeps me focused on eating nutritious foods the majority of the time. ⠀ 2. Protein & Veggies 🍖🥗 - if you’re eating lots of protein and veggies, there’s a good chance you’re not over-consuming calories. Plus, protein and veggies help keep you full and satisfied. ⠀ 3. The One Plate Rule 🍽 - when you find yourself in a situation where there’s a lot of tempting foods (like a buffet or party), this rule can help. With it, you can have whatever you one, but it MUST fit on a single plate. I’d also try and keep each new food to ONE scoop/serving. ⠀ 4. Limit Snacking ❌ - for a lot of people, mindless snacking is the biggest culprit leading to over-consuming calories. Well, it’s a week later and I’m still working on my squat snatch. My efforts are met with constant frustration and lots of huffing and puffing. But one thing I know is this part—the very ugly part IS precisely what it’s all about. This is the very moment that occurs right before a break through. I watch lifting videos over and over agin. I follow all these ‘big time’ lifters and athletes and have such awe and admiration for them. And sometimes, I gawk wondering if I’ll ever be able to lift as heavy as them... Right now I cannot lift as heavy as them, no. Hell, I can’t even stick this stupid squat or even get the weight over my head. But that’s just right now. One day I’ll be packing on plates and my technique will get better. So I’m keeping at it. I can’t do it right now, just yet; but I will. BONE STRUCTURE: Everyone has a different bone structure which sets the foundation to how their physique will look. It’s common sense, but the bigger your bone structure is, the more muscle you can put on. If you were born with a small frame, don’t expect to look like Bradley Martyn or Simeon Panda. Fortunately, with years of lifting you can grow your bones. Now they will take a lot longer to grow than muscle, but the fact that you can increase your bone structure naturally is pretty amazing. Keep in mind that it will take 3-5 years of lifting before you can expect your bones to start growing! The best way to increase your bone structure is by doing compound lifts: (Bench Press, Squat, Deadlifts, and Overhead Presses).
