What a stunning spot to stop and have a drink! ⠀
This shot comes from our friend @scotch_votary over in Michigan's Deerfield Nature Park. We are suckers for Covered Bridges (must be all those years spent in Vermont) and snow (see previous). We are also very found of this bottle of @craigellachie - one we stumbled upon ourselves on a road trip down south a few years ago. ⠀
The Craigellachie distillery is located right smack in the middle of Speyside -at the intersection of the Spey and Fiddich rivers. It is a beautiful setting and one that we highly recommend anyone traveling (or thinking of traveling) to Scotland consider hitting up. As for they whisky itself, this 13 year is full of fresh fruits from start to finish. ⠀
The nose is heavy with apples and apricots, and then honey drizzled all over. As you let this whisky breath a bit a little cinnamon and butterscotch notes can be found. The palate retains those complex fruit notes, and just adds a little bit more charred wood and vanilla that you would expect from a whisky aged for 13 years in an ex-bourbon barrel. Overall this whisky highlights everything that a Speyside whisky should be ... with a little more umpf! ⠀
If you get the chance, be sure to grab a bottle of this and follow @scotch_votary for more great shots! ⠀
Had never heard of the #LochLomond Distillery till last month, but glad I got the recommendation. I find some toasted cereal notes, like honey clusters and stone fruit but with a noticeable peatiness on the nose and taste but which surprisingly fades on the finish, leaving more of the honey notes. A really pleasant highland malt, one which I look forward to trying at younger ages now too.

I have tasted the Craigellachie 17yo distillery bottling. Last year I had the chance to visit the Distillery. It is located right beside Speyside Cooperage in Craigellachie near Aberlour. Macallan is around the corner as well!
