Here’s one of the our latest projects and there’s a bit of a back story to this one.
It feels like this project has been on our books for a very long time.
We first got involved with this project about a year and a couple of months ago, at that stage it was progressing through planning and we was lucky enough to quote and win the work.
Unfortunately planning permission wasn’t simple for the client after discovering a main sewer 4m deep in close proximity to there property.
After digging a trail hole midway through last year to establish a current footing depth the plans were amended and eventually passed at the start of this year.
We had a bit of demolition, decking removal and hedge removal inc. stumps before getting underway with the building aspect.
The conservatory removal was simple enough unfortunately what it was built on wasn’t so easy to remove.
The conservatory was built on 10m of 900mm reinforced concrete footing which proved to put up some resistance when removing to allow for the new foundations.
Once removed we discovered why they were so substantial and this was because of the extremely poor ground conditions being over 800mm deep of backfill soil which continually collapsed in during the earth removal stage until we was able to get deep enough to get supports in.
The new foundations were dug ranging from 1.3m deep to 2.5m deep, underground pipes boxed and gravel protected then the concrete got pumped in.
We removed the oversite the following day, regraded the site access, jet washed the site clean and laid 7 ton of crushed concrete to eliminate the mud. Once the mud is gone my OCD settles back down 😁
The brickies managed to fight the elements and get us up to dpc in just over half a day ready for the block and beam this coming Tuesday, hopefully by the end of this week we will be up to hoist height.
The weather has not been kind to us at all on this one so bring on the sun 🙏🏻
