Day 1 of my caloric surplus is in the bag. - Deadlift max is currently at 255 lbs, and you better believe I’m shooting for 300. I’ve read that rack pulls are the way to go if you’re looking for that power lockout on deadlifts, as well as increasing your deadlift. 👌🏽 - Warmed up with some wide grip pull ups to get the blood flowing, then 4x8 bent over barbell rows, along with 4x9 rack pulls, as shown here (first time trying these so any advice on how to improve my form would be much appreciated 😅) - Ended with a one arm dumbbell Row and bent over dumbbell Row superset along with other machine movements to help target and isolate the back.

Now obviously I’m not on contest prep or anything but I still enjoy being somewhat lean and liking the way I look. It’s a give and take relationship. During off season I like to enjoy myself a bit. There is no reason to drive yourself crazy by eating clean 100 percent of the time, but the majority of the time when you are eating clean doesn’t have to drive you crazy. Being conscious of what you eat and eating clean don't have to be boring! Right here we have about 8-10 oz turkey breast rolled up with 2 slices of Muenster cheese split between them and low fat olive oil mayo and mustard, and about 1-1.5 cups of whole grain apple cinnamon Cheerios with about 1-1.5 cups of fairlife 1% milk. And it tastes amazing! And also it’s the weekend so anyone who knows me, knows what that means. I’m going to treat myself! 🔴SINGLE DUMBBELL ROW🔴 ✅On the left the exercise starts with loose lat muscles. Back is tight, however nothing is contracted and the arm is basically "hanging". From this point you will retract your shoulderblade (the arm holding the DB) and THEN pull your arm towards yourself, parallel to your torso. Back stays tight for the whole exercise, which has to be controlled for the whole set.✅ ❌On the right, ego lifting & poor technique. The dude starts the exercise the same way but instead of retracting his scapula and then pull his arm, he starts pulling at the very beginning. Not retracting the scapula will not engage his back that much, plus, by not being retracted his shoulder is going to pinch nerves & tendons in the chest-shoulder area. Bouncing up and down will increase the stress on the lower back by rounding it, while keeping your head up will increase the stress on your neck.
