The horrors of war. This is a tempera painting from back when I was in high school. The inspiration came from the movie fury.
—-I would walk into class with my headphones playing the fury soundtrack. Tiger battle. Being super antisocial. Why i loved the movie fury so much was because the perspective of the film revolved around 5 guys who operated a Sherman tank during the Second World War I though this movie was fantastic because they made you feel what the soldiers were feeling, you could see the fear in there eyes. Great performance by Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, and Jon Bernthal. ——Now you would think that because you are in a tank you would be more safe right? Wrong! The most common tank used by America in world war 2 was the M4 Sherman. The Sherman was built more for speed and only had 3 inches of armor thickness. Now the German army had these things called tiger tanks. These tanks were equipped with a devastating 88mm gun that could take out a Sherman at over 2200 yards. Not many of these were made but there was a very high chance that you would come across one of these beasts. The Sherman tank crew would sit terrified watching all there shots bounce off of the tigers Hull there’s nothing they could do but sit in they’re tin can and wait. It would typically take up to 4 Sherman tanks to take out one tiger.
