I was diagnosed with an #eatingdisorder in my late twenties. Later once my #weight was 'restored' I was diagnosed yet again with an #ed but this time #bingeeatingdisorder which had to met very particular criteria for that determination to be made. I couldn't face at those times that I was 'ill' I had none of the mental associations that #TV or #books talked about in regards to an ed. turns out you don't need to believe your #fat but actually thin to be ill. I don't go nowadays from one #fast food joint to another and eat my way to fullness. I do eat an excessive amount of food in a short period of time. My doctor back in the day suggested I lose 30pounds. Who could tell I would be unable to stop? Who realized being #deppressed would lead to the other end of the ed spectrum? I am glad the DSM-IV recognizes #bed and that you don't need to look a certain way to be ill.
