#tbt 2010->>>Now. Seeing photos in FB memories can be so hard to look at. In 2010 I was eating and sleeping the days away dealing with a failed union. I was too into the fact I was “marrying well” and gave up a lot and gave up on myself. The eyes, the weight and the body language says it all. Fast forward to 2018 and though a bathroom selfie doesn’t show it, there is happiness in my heart and life. Who knew I’d love snacking on flax covered foods and soaked chia seeds. Change doesn’t happen overnight, and while I’m still on my way, I’m closer than I was yesterday. Don’t change so people will like you. I’m finally getting around to posting about the meet this past weekend and i want to start by highlighting the outstanding job these three ladies did. First up is the little bad a$$ @elenita_papafrita_ this young lady is truly an inspiration. Elena has Cystic Fibrosis, and everyday she wakes up gives it a big 🖕 and says it is not going to run her life. She comes to the gym & works her ass off. She never uses it as an excuse and never complains even when I have her doing sets of 20. #noexcuses This was her second meet and she competed as a Jr in the 56 kg raw division. She went 9 for 9 hitting a 6lb PR on her squat of 231, 110 bench, smoked 275 deadlift for a small PR, and added over 100lbs to her total 💪. Next up is @alicia.that.aka.and.realtor Also very dedicated, hardworking and inspirational. This was her first time competing and at the young age of 47(I mean 22) and she rocked it. Alicia hit a 248 squat for a 13lb PR, 121 bench, and a 275 deadlift 👊. Proving #ageisjustanumber And last but certainly not least we have @crystal_lifts_116 Her performance was probably my favorite from this weekend. Not because she worked harder or performed better but because she overcame adversity. This was her first time competing as well and like a lot of first time lifters her nerves got the best of her. She had a rough go at squat and bench, only completing her openers. She took it hard but she didn’t give up. She stayed in, fought her way back and smoked a 308 deadlift for a PR. She hit a 220 squat and a 115 bench. It was a pleasure coaching these ladies and I look forward to watching them progress as lifters.
