This is one of the most touching, beautiful and personal collections I've ever had the pleasure of presenting at Cookie Dough. In the designer's own words: "After we left the dayaa and grew up, things calmed down. The sound of kids didn’t fill the streets anymore. Hilal became a farmer like his old man, Slaiman joined the army while Maysoun, Hanan, Hayat and Mahasen became amazing mothers as theirs was. Emm Slaimen passed away but left five kids behind who beared 14 nephews and nieces; all had her kind eyes and loving character. This brought back life to the neighborhood with the cheering, the giggling and the running between the walls of the houses. I still wish I could go back to those days of innocence and purity, back when our biggest issue was the bike’s wheel getting ruined and having to fix it. I still say “Rizk’Allah aa hole el iyyem,” because my childhood was a blessing, and having lived such a beautiful one gets me thinking of all those who weren’t as privileged as me. So I dedicate this collection to Emm Slaimen and her kids and to all those who struggled or are struggling with their childhood."
