It feels like writing about this topic is so trivial compared to “real life”, “real pressing” world issues. However, for the sake of what’s it important to living in confined spaces and sharing common living areas with so many other people. A topic like dishwasher etiquette is a MUST.
1. Scrape leftover food into the garbage - we use a silicone baking spatula.
2. Rinse and wash leftovers off with a sponge - we use a wand sponge with soap in the handle.
3. Put in the dishwasher in an organized fashion so that it can fit many items in there for washing.
We even like to go further and say, stack all the forks together and then all the knives together so it’s easier to pack away, and to follow suit. If one shelf is full of glasses - don’t try squeeze a bowl in there.
The general rule is people will automatically follow the crowd - so be a leader and pack the dishwasher the right way for the person who has to empty it.
Which - is everyone’s job, you open it. Unpack it !!! Such trivial matters like I say, but if every one of your 3,7,13,18,25,60 crew members didn’t give a shit and you were the one having to clean it all again, you’d be pissed.
The mindful stew leads by example.
From a maintenance perspective also food clogs the filters and creates more work for cleaning and servicing and ultimately the lifespan of the expensive equipment that your boss owns.
The mindful stew cares about taking care of people and other peoples belongings!
