Salad for breakfast anyone? 🥗
This week in our Busy Fit Mums online program we are focusing on increasing veggies in our diet including breakfast. Basic guidelines are to consume MINIMUM 5 servings of #fruit and veggies a day (between 5 and 13 servings actually). According to Lauren McGuckin, accredited practising dietitian and spokesperson for the Dietitians Association of Australia "As a population, Australian do not eat enough fruits and vegetables of any variety. Figures show only around eight percent of Australian adults meet the recommended intake of vegetables daily,". Vegetables (and fruit) are essential part of a healthy diet, they supply a wide variety of vitamins and minerals. Not only do they contain fibre to aid bowel function, but they can also help protect against some diseases (help reduce the risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, some cancers, and high blood pressure). So starting early in the day is a smart way to make sure you will reach the goal, you will feel better and have more energy.
Some ways to inc more veggies in your diet: have an egg salad for breakfast (like pictured), omelette or just have some raw cut #veggies (cucumber, cherry tomatoes etc) and egg on toast or even add veggies to your morning smoothie also add veggies to your snacks - cut them up and keep them in the fridge when you fancy to snack on something and you can add dips too ☺. #busyfitmums #food #eatclean #cleaneating
