People ask me what the three stripes on my arm represent quite a lot! So here it is. They represent 2 beautiful friendships I share with @cassiieeeh and @adi.wilson but they also hold a much deeper meaning. No, they are not the Wi-Fi signal, they are the Pillars of Creation. My love for space is almost as massive as my love for archaeology. Looking up at the stars has always made my soul move, it's so big up there, so volatile and harsh yet so very magnificent.
The Pillars of Creation is a photograph taken by the Hubble Space Telescope of massive columns of interstellar gas and dust in the Eagle Nebula, some 6,500-7,000 light years from Earth. They are so named because the gas and dust are in the process of creating new stars, you are looking at the birth place of stars! Taken on April 1, 1995, it is so big that our solar system cannot be represented on an anatomical scale next to it.
The astronomers responsible for the photo were Jeff Hester and Paul Scowen from Arizona State University. The region was rephotographed by ESA's Herschel Space Observatory in 2011, and again by the Hubble in 2014
My interpretation: beautiful things are born in the middle of nothing. They are thrown across a universe that towers over us and is not effected by us in the slightest. Life here on earth is small and it is vulnerable yet nothing is too big to conquer. We are apart of something great that holds no expectation. We are stars and we are born of this universe too. So remember your power little stars and shine on, for we too will be space dust one day.
