What albums from the current decade that are not classic worthy will go down as classics due to influence?
When talking about future classics that are under our classic rating (9/10), two albums come to mind, DAMN and 2014 FHD. For an album to be considered 'classic' but not be of classic quality, it needs popularity and influence. Both of these albums are extremely popular, and I would not be particularly disappointed with either representing our generation's hip-hop, however, they aren't amazing either. Both are definitely great though, and often overhated at that. Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are commonly considered as the two greatest hip-hop artists of our generation (outside of the community obviously) and will likely go down as legends. Although I don't consider either of these albums to be their best works, they are both chart topping, Grammy winning, and filled with radio hits. This future 'classic' status doesn't add to the respective artist's pedigree in our opinion, but their influence is still worth noting.
Ranking the 8 best Kendrick and J. Cole albums (all at or above an 8/10 imo):
4. 2014 FHD
7. Section 80
8. The Warm Up
