🌟MONDAY MOTIVATION🌟 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ monday can definitely make or break the week ahead so make sure you start your week right!! I had a killer back/shoulder workout, got some revision in and found out I got a first on one of my last essays so it’s been a v good day for me💃 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Lil cut update, I’ve decided to up my cals slightly for this week as I’ve been in such a big deficit, haven’t been feeling hungry at all but just feel with exams coming up my brain needs the extra fuel🙄 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Talking of exams, they are well and truly creeping up on us and just a reminder to everyone that maybe stressing about it ➡️Don’t stress and overdo it, little short burst are way more effective, take lil breaks to relax and refuel! ➡️Find something to take your mind of everything, for me that’s going to the gym, I like to go early in the morning as it makes my day more productive, I also love taking my dog for a beach walk in the evening as this helps take my mind off things but find what suits/works for you! ➡️Prepare loads of snacks to keep you going throughout the day, if you’re worried about not hitting you macros or whatever perfectly DONT WORRY there is more to life than hitting numbers! ➡️Surround yourself with positive people who help and encourage to work hard and keep going! Slowly but surely growing 😍💪 When I first started working out, a part of me (or rather my brain) absolutely dreaded upper body day! I hated lateral raises, any sort of presses and push ups because I’d always barely last 8 reps w/o feeling like my arms were gonna fall off. BUT NOW? I may not be the best deadlifter😂😂 but I am good at arm exercises, specifically biceps. Remember, curls are basically the brunt of what you can do for biceps (isolation movements anyway). However, that doesn't mean do only a couple variations and call it a day. Hit your bicep heads from different angles and different intensities, but don't over do it. If your workouts use a lot of compound movements, such as bent over rows, then make sure to give your biceps recuperation time. Overdoing it can hurt your strength and size gains. What I do for biceps on arm day are supersets of barbell curls (conventional) and incline hammer curls (longer curl angle, makes you work harder). 3 supersets of that and you'll feel it. The next arm day, I do concentration seated dumbbell curls and standing dumbbell curls with supination. Do both dumbbells at the same time (puts more load on your core) and make sure to time your supination correctly. "How much weight should I choose?" 😕 Pick a weight that challenges you! Your last few reps should feel almost impossible, but not too hard that you can't get through the whole set 🏋️ If your goal is to build muscle/strength I would pick a heavy weight for 6-8 reps and if the goal is endurance I would pick a lighter weight for 10-15 reps. ⭐️REFLECTIONS FOR THE WEEK⭐️ so i didn’t do reflections for last week, because these take time and energy to sit on. 1️⃣ I didn’t make as much time for self care as I should. My work schedule really sucked, no ones fault but my own, because of commitments to loved ones. 2️⃣ Money is energy, time is energy. And I’ve been drained. Literally and metaphorically. I need to appropriate things better in my life in that sense. Which leads me to... 3️⃣ I need to learn how to set boundaries. Without seeming pushy or anything. I was talking about this with @suegainz this week and it helped me realize a lot of things. But mostly, setting boundaries is so important and something i’ve neglected. I’m such a giving person by nature. But I’ve realized that if i’m not getting as much energy as i’m giving, i’m not going to last as long as i would like without giving up. So I’ll continue trying to practice setting boundaries in order to make some time for things I enjoy and basically for myself. 77 lbs for 6 reps = smooth. So I bumped it up to 88 and everything went to 💩 - I couldn't even lift off, I lost tightness in my core, my butt came up ... argh. I understand that progress isn't linear (and recovering from a shoulder injury doesn't help, of course).
